How To Know When You’re Ready to Say, I DO

marriagephotoWords are powerful, yet we hear them everyday.

What about your words, or, more specifically,
your word, does your word mean something?

When you give someone your word – that you
will do something for them, be somewhere, etc,
do you do it?

Even though it may take a while, do you follow up
and follow through?

In other words, do you keep your word?

God is so good that He is not a man that He
should lie, neither is He the Son of man that He
should repent (Numbers 23:19).

He created the world through the power of His words.

Just think if God, in the middle of Jesus performing
miracles as He was headed towards the cross,
decided to not keep His word and say, “That’s okay,
Jesus, you don’t have to die for them.  I’ve changed
my mind – I’ve decided to no longer work out this
redemption plan for mankind.  Come on back up
here with Me, Jesus.”  That would have been devastating!

Because we were created in the image of God, and
are to be followers, or imitators of Him
(Genesis 1:26, Ephesians 5:1)

God expects us to keep our word just like He keeps His.

Besides, if we desire commitment one day in
the form of marriage, then we must learn to keep
our word, now, way before we say those two simple
yet profound words at that altar:  “I do.”
